Gasoline prices continue to climb
August 7, 2017
Gasoline prices in Texas and nationwide continue to spike, but they're unlikely to grow much higher in the final weeks of the summer.
Houston-area fuel prices rose about 5 cents higher in the past week up to an average of $2.12 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, while the more expensive national average jumped almost 4 cents to $2.35, according to GasBuddy, which tracks fuel costs nationwide.
Prices at the pump fell throughout June courtesy of an unexpected dip in crude oil prices, but gasoline prices rose during much of July and they're continuing that upward trajectory in August.
